DOWNSTREAM OPERATOR / non-SME

With iEUDR

  • Store supplier reference and verification numbers against each purchase and batch
  • Trace every product back through the supply chain
  • Get alerts when a reference is missing
  • Pass references to the next party

No reference, no clearance

The person lodging the declaration must make the DDS reference available to customs before release.

With iEUDR

  • A forwarder portal with notifications carrying the DDS reference codes
  • AI classification to flag in-scope CN codes on declaration lines
  • Pre-submission checks that warn or block when a reference is missing
  • An audit trail of which reference went on which declaration

Article 26(4)

From supplier data to cleared goods
in four easy steps

1

Bring data in

Suppliers use the portal; you connect via API, CSV, or manual entry.

2

Classify and validate

AI classifies products to CN codes, reads supplier docs, and flags geolocation and data gaps.

3

Build and submit the DDS

iEUDR compiles & submits the statement per shipment/batch to EU TRACES, then receives the reference and verification numbers.

4

Notify, clear and keep records

Your forwarder gets the DDS reference, with a five-year audit trail stored automatically.

Questions we hear most

Who has to submit the due diligence statement?
The first operator placing the product on the EU market, or exporting it. Since Regulation (EU) 2025/2650, downstream operators and traders do not file their own, but non-SME downstream operators must register and keep the reference numbers.
When does the EUDR apply?
From 30 December 2026 for large and medium operators and traders, and from 30 June 2027 for micro and small operators.
Does it apply in Northern Ireland?
Yes. It applies in Northern Ireland under the Windsor Framework, as confirmed by the UK government on 23 June 2026. It does not apply in Great Britain. Movements from Great Britain and the rest of the world into Northern Ireland need the DDS reference on the movement information or customs declaration.
What does a freight forwarder need?
The DDS reference number, and the verification number, must be available to customs before release (Article 26(4)). iEUDR notifies the forwarder with the reference so they have it before they file.
How do I get data into iEUDR?
Through the API, a bulk CSV upload or individual entry. Suppliers can also provide their own data through the supplier portal.
Is the AI classification final?
No. AI suggests the CN code and flags in-scope goods, and a user reviews and confirms each result.
Can I use iEUDR with Claude, Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT?
The MCP connection to Claude, Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT is coming soon. It will let your team send and receive iEUDR information from the assistant they already use.
How long are records kept?
iEUDR supports the five-year retention rules (Articles 4(3), 5 and 9(1)) with a time-stamped history of every submission and change.
