What is Export Administration Regulation (EAR)?

The Export Administration Regulations (EAR) are the export controls set in place by the US Department of Commerce to control the dual-use goods.

As per EAR, the export of dual-use goods may require some additional licenses depending on the characteristics of the item, its intended use, and the destination country.

EAR-controlled goods are divided into ten categories broadly in the Commerce Control List (CCL).
