Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD)

A Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD), also known as a “trip ticket” in the Middle East, is a customs document used to temporarily import a motor vehicle.

It acts as a vehicle’s passport, which allows it to enter different countries without paying taxes and duties. It also serves as a customs declaration, which ensures that all the applicable import taxes and duties will be paid in case the vehicle is not re-exported.

CPDs are good for numerous entries and exits within each nation throughout its one-year validity. To prove that the vehicle complied with temporary import requirements, the holder must get the CPD papers endorsed.
