Optical Character Recognition - OCR

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is a technology that recognises and extracts text from images to transform various document types into editable and searchable data, such as:

  • Scanned paper documents
  • PDFs
  • Photos taken with a digital camera

In this method, the paper is scanned to produce a digital image, which is then analysed to find text characters. These characters are subsequently translated into machine-encoded text. OCR is frequently used to scan paper documents into digital format, automate data entry, and enable text search and editing in digital formats.
