Customs Transit

Customs transit is a customs procedure that is used for the movement of goods between different customs territories (two or more) or two points of the same customs territory through another customs territory.

It allows temporary suspension of customs duty, taxes, or policy measures that apply to imports. In this way, it allows the formalities of customs clearance at the point of destination rather than point of entry. Businesses moving goods under transit procedures can use iCustoms’ NCTS solution to manage transit declarations seamlessly.

There are different customs transit systems being used in the EU, including:

  • TIR (International road transit)
  • Union and common transit NATO
  • ATA Carnet (Temporary admission)
  • Rhine waterways
