Trade Control and Expert System TRACES

Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES) is the European Commission’s online platform for health certification for shipping animal and plant goods coming into and out of the EU.

TRACES provides the following benefits:

  • Improved transparency
  • Enhanced coordination and cooperation 
  • Food safety and traceability

A few examples of animal and plant products being cleared through TRACES:

  • Germplasm
  • Live animals
  • Different types of poultry
  • Carnivores
  • Primates
